Top 10 Signs of the Impending U.S. Police State

Linked HERE and above is an article from Alternet by Allan Uthman of Buffalo Beast. "From secret detention centers to warrantless wiretapping, Bush and Co. give free rein to their totalitarian impulses."

Yet our representatives in Congress, Democrats and Republicans alike, refuse to impeach this criminal regime. Where does that leave the rest of us?

The Democrats are Punks - Part 3

If stalling is a viable strategy, why be surprised that some Dems are even promoting LOSING as a winning prospect? Really. Last week Tony Coelho told Adam Nagourney that NOT gaining majorities in the House and Senate might be better for Democrats, since then they won't be blamed for the mess the country is in.

"The most politically advantageous thing for the Democrats is to pick up 11, 12 seats in the House and three or four seats in the Senate but let the Republicans continue to be responsible for government," Coelho, a former House Democratic whip, told the Times. "We are heading into this period of tremendous deficit, plus all the scandals, plus all the programs that have been cut. This way, they get blamed for everything."

No wonder the punks always lose. They WANT to lose!

How the Bush Administration Deconstructed Iraq

This rather comfortable portrait of the U.S. as a bumbling, even thoroughly incompetent giant overwhelmed by unexpected forces tearing Iraqi society apart is strikingly inaccurate:

Most of the death, destruction, and disorganization in the country has, at least in its origins, been a direct consequence of U.S. efforts to forcibly institute an economic and social revolution, while using overwhelming force to suppress resistance to this project. Certainly, the insurgency, the ethno-religious jihadists, and the criminal gangs have all contributed to the descent of Iraqi cities and towns into chaos, but their roles have been secondary and in many cases reactive.

The engine of deconstruction was - and remains - the U.S.-led occupation.

The Democrats are Punks - Part 2

This 40-minute video clip is a no holds barred attack on the spineless Democratic Party leadership that voices the reasons many of us feel the Dems are hopeless. It's good stuff.
Take the time to check it out. - Nadir

From the Huffington Post:

Wesley Clark, Jr. Goes After The Democratic Party Establishment
Cenk Uygur

Wesley Clark, Jr. was an integral part of his dad's presidential campaign in 2004, and in his appearance on The Young Turks today unloaded on the entire Democratic Party establishment.

He names names, calls out specific Democratic consultants that worked on the Wesley Clark campaign and goes after the party leadership.

His criticism of the Democrats is only matched by his blistering attack against the Republican Party. His story on how John McCain acts in private is devastating.

He also goes after Bob Shrum, Joe Lieberman, James Carville and even some bloggers on Daily Kos. No one is spared, including me at the end. If you're faint of heart, don't watch this clip. And I'm also warning you ahead of time, if you are offended by foul language -- do not watch this.

But if you want to see someone who pulls absolutely no punches and speaks with no fear, check out Wes Clark in this video clip:

9/11 Pentagon Video Disappoints Rather Than Dispelling Conspiracy Theories

"The release of new video images of Flight 77 hitting the Pentagon is both a direct assault against a 9/11 truth movement that has flourished in recent months and an attempt to reinforce the attendant propaganda of 9/11 in light of Bush's 29% approval rating."

That from the website www.prisonplanet.com, a leader in that movement. Their article is linked above.

I looked at the video on the BBC's website (view it there yourself) and this is nothing new. You see this silver thing which may be a plane or may not. In fact, except for one new angle, in which I could see no conclusive evidence of what type of plane, or that this was a plane, this is the same footage from the Pentagon used in the 911 Truth documentary Loose Change which you can view here.

I know. If it isn't a plane, where is Flight 77? I don't know. But the lack of debris from a jet on the ground sure lends credence to claims there was no plane or that it was not a Boeing 757.

I want to believe my government, but they tell half truths or flat out lie all the time. Why should I believe them?

Why won't the US government release ALL of the information available on 911??? Why are they so secretive about it? Why did Bush first try his best to block an independent commission, then appoint war criminal Henry Kissinger, then a whitewash committee when he finally bowed to pressure?

There are so many unanswered questions about 911 that it is dizzying. I don't know of anyone who doesn't question some aspect of the official line. Whenever I tell people about the war games in progress on the morning of 911, they freak out.

I'm not sure that we will ever learn the truth, but the government doesn't help by trumpeting the release of incomplete information.

The Democrats are Punks

Despite the fact that the entire world wants the Bush regime out of office, the Democratic Party balks at the prospect of impeachment.

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco has told her caucus that the idea of impeaching President Bush isn't in the cards if the party takes over the House in November's elections.

Pelosi, who Republicans have charged intends to lead an impeachment effort, dismissed the idea when she spoke Wednesday morning at a closed-door caucus of the House's 201 Democrats. Pelosi also restated her opposition to the idea of censuring Bush over his decision to invade Iraq in March 2003.

Pelosi, who is likely to become the first female House speaker if the Democrats win in November, has been forced to strike a delicate balance between her party's left, where the idea of impeaching Bush has found a positive reception, and "moderates" who say raising the issue would repel voters in the swing districts that Democrats must win to regain the House majority they lost in 1994.

But think about this note from David Swanson at AfterDowningStreet.org:

"While 90% of Democrats and 81% of Independents disapprove of Bush in the latest Harris poll, only 67% of Republicans approve of him. Every poll done on impeachment (http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/polling ) shows very strong support among Democrats and weak opposition among Republicans. Moreover, an off-year election is won by inspiring your side to turn out in higher numbers, and nothing inspires anti-Republican voters like impeachment."

Only a fringe minority of corporate leaders, elites and whackos still support the Bush regime. By taking impeachment off the table instead of making it the focal point of midterm elections, the Democrats are shooting themselves, the rest of America and yes, the rest of the world in or collective right foot. Their anemic campaign in 2004 (in addition to superior Republican strategies and electoral fraud in several states) led to a second Bush term. Failure to capture the imagination of the American people during the 2006 elections could doom us to another six years or more of Republican/NeoCon control.

Reach Out and Track Someone

Your mobile phone lets companies and the government know where you are, even when you're not making a call.

Most people know that when they make a mobile call--during a 911 emergency, for example--authorities can access phone company technology to pin down their location, sometimes to within a few feet.

A lesser-known fact: Cell phone companies can locate you any time you are in range of a tower and your phone is on. Cell phones are designed to work either with global positioning satellites or through "pings" that allow towers to triangulate and pinpoint signals. Any time your phone "sees" a tower, it pings it.

That is what happened last month when a New York City murder highlighted the existence of the built-in capability of phones to locate people even when they aren't making calls.

Bush Clears the Way for Corporate Domination

When George W. Bush says that he wants to spread freedom to every corner of the earth, he means it.

But of course the president that turned Soviet-era gulags into secret CIA prisons in order to do God-knows-what to God-knows-whom isn't talking about individual freedom. He means corporate freedom -- freedom for the great multinationals to extract everything they can from the world's resources and labor without the hindrance of public interest laws, environmental regulations or worker protections.

Bush's vision of a free world actually looks just like the corporate globalization agenda pushed by a succession of American presidents in institutions like the World Trade Organization.

Investigate Big Dick

Did Cheney and oil company execs lick their chops over Iraqi oil less than two years before we invaded Iraq? Shouldn't someone find out?
